A MORAL SLIPPERY SLOPE
In response to the letter by Doug Steley, ‘A Freedom of Choice’ (Illawarra Mercury, Friday October 19, 2018), may I remind Mr Steley none of us have the authority and power to call ourselves into existence, so why "falsely" assume you have the authority to end this life?

Dr Philip Nitschke started by arguing for euthanasia for the dying, but later extended that to promoting suicide for healthy people. Many argue "the patient's will" should determine the issue, however euthanasia undermines the role of the doctor.
Further euthanasia will also undermine care and treatment of patients while also weakening palliative care services which is not condusive to best medical practise. Euthanasia has been legal in Canada for a few years.
It was reported in January by the Canadian Paediatric Society that parents are asking doctors to euthanize disabled or dying children and infants.
This proves the morally slippery slope that a nation slides down when it agrees that “killing is an acceptable answer to human suffering”.

SELFISHNESS AND HATE
Is it true that the Liberal Party are quickly exposing their values, which is anger, revenge, falsification of facts and absolute sense of entitlement. Tony Abbott, Eric Abetz, Peter Dutton, Michaelia Cash, Kelly O'Dwyer are driven by pure individual opportunism and selfishness and hate.
They have been carefully molded and mentored by individuals such as John Howard and Peter Reith and good citizens of Australia are increasingly seeing this appalling behaviour.

A CONSPIRACY THEORY
I read John Pronk’s comment “Rubbish Posters” (Illawarra Mercury, October 23, 2018) and could only think he is trying to outdo the Harold Holt conspiracy-theory where Holt was taken by a Chinese submarine or a UFO from Mars – or whatever the theory was.
Is John implying that political forces, such as conservatives are responsible for these signs encouraging strikes and not the trade union movement; and Labor and unions are not connected?
Clearly the trade union movement has been encouraging and participating in law breaking for some time now. And Sally McManus is constantly talking about increasing union membership and generating strike activity.
I am sure the political arm of the Trade Union movement, the Australian Labor Party, once in power after the next federal election along with both entities’ promotional arm, the ABC, will make it all clear for John and everyone else. Fair dinkum.
If he is pointing his finger at Coalition voters, there must only be a handful of these in the Wollongong area and I’m sure none of us would bother wasting our valuable time on a fool’s errand like pasting union signs on bus shelters - genuine, fake, or otherwise. What a useless endeavour that would be in this area.
