Essentially in time is precious to you, you want to make sure you are hitting compound based exercises. These movements hit more than one muscle group each time.
These exercises will not only strengthen, but tone and burn calories too. They include:
Squat: recruiting the quadriceps, hamstrings and glutes.
Bench Press: recruiting the chest, triceps and shoulders.
Dead Lift: recruiting the hamstrings and glutes.
Chin Ups: recruiting the back and biceps.
Lunges: recruiting the glutes, quadriceps and hamstrings.
Dumbell Row: recruiting the shoulders and biceps.
All these movements will essentially target a large number of muscles and provide a great platform for your strength or muscle leaning/building program.
