Jones received an inadvertent knee to the head from Al Nassr teammate Bruno Uvini as the stop stopper rushed out in an attempt to prevent a goal in his Saudi Arabian side's 2-0 league loss to Al Ahli.

The former Liverpool gloveman was left unconscious for several minutes before being taken from the field on a stretcher and taken to hospital.

Jones took to social media on Sunday night vowing to make a swift recovery after being discharged.

"Thanks everyone for their thoughts," he posted on Twitter.

"I'm back home now and resting up. No major issues, just a concussion and some bruising.

"Looking forward to getting back out with the team on the pitch as soon as possible."

The nasty knock has cast doubt on the availability of Jones as Socceroos coach Graham Arnold weighs up his first home squad for the November 17 clash with Asian Cup rivals South Korea at Suncorp Stadium and then Lebanon three days later.

Genk's Danny Vukovic was preferred to Jones and Mitchell Langerak in Australia's 4-0 thumping of Kuwait last month as the Arnold era began without first-choice keeper Mat Ryan due to an undisclosed injury.

Jones, a back-up to Ryan throughout Australia's World Cup campaign in Russia this year, departed Dutch club Feyenoord to join Al Nassr in August on a two-year deal.

He has since started in all eight of their Pro League clashes this season, helping his new side to third with the league's second-stingiest defence.
