The Illawarra’s junior surfers have continued their recent run of impressive results, with multiple locals finishing on the podium at the recent Cadet Cup.

A heavy Illawarra contingent travelled up the coast to Port Stephens for the event, with many returning home thrilled with their performance.
Port Kembla siblings Taj and Bodhi Simon were among the top performers, with Bodhi taking out the under 12 girls final and Taj finishing second in the under 16 boys event.
Charli Hurst also reached the top step of the podium, winning the under 16 girls competition. Hurst was able to take advantage of the long left-hand surf breaks at Birubi Beach to complete a number of high-quality waves, posting a score of 8.83.
Wollongong’s Zahlia Short finished third in the under 14 girls final.
The youngsters also had the chance to meet some of their idols ahead of the Port Stephens WSL Qualifying Series event.
