All six of the Greater Illawarra Zone’s rep teams were victorious on Sunday, with the under 12s, under 13s and under 14s all picking up dual victories on the first weekend of Cricket NSW’s new Twenty20 double-header format.
The under 12s triumphed over Fairfield Liverpool in the morning before returning to defeat Parramatta. Blake Mackrell was among the team’s best performers, with innings of 41* and 48 with the bat and figures of 4-13 in the victory over Parramatta.
Blake’s older brother Liam also had a big day, scoring 74* to lead the under 15s to a nine-wicket victory over South Eastern. Luke Jones impressed with the ball, taking 3-14 off seven overs.
The under 15 girls also had their first win of the season, claiming a six-wicket victory over Penrith. Tara Rudd led with both bat and ball.
