A team from Facebook and local cyber-safety stakeholders will be involved in the discussion at the Sage Hotel.
They will talk about how to support young people to have a safe and positive experience online.
And share some of the tools, resources and policies from Facebook and Instagram that can help support parents to navigate social media with their children.
Registrations are required for Thursday night’s workshop which is part of Facebook’s Community Boost program bringing digital education and support to regional communities.
Facebook has not only brought experts in online safety but others in business growth and development, brand marketing, and digital technology.
Community Boost is designed to provide small businesses tailored education and training program on using Facebook and Instagram.
Facebook Australia director of small business Kaylie Smith said the Illawarra is one of the top two regional areas in Australia for the number if small businesses using Facebook.
“Small to medium sizes businesses in the Illawarra that use Facebook contribute $160 million in economic growth,” she said.
Other workshops on Thursday and Friday are on Instagram stories for schools, growing a business with Facebook and Instagram and getting creative with a mobile phone.
