Once a stand-out event which would draw thousands to the showgrounds on Grevillea Park Road, the show has been absent for nearly two years but will return this Sunday.
A variety of carnival rides will accompany the Foragers artisan market to at least give the community something on the weekend scheduled for the event.
President John Andrews said the society has had a “rough year” with the death of a member and two others (including himself) battling heart problems. He said the society was also struggling financially.
It meant the agricultural side including equestrian competitions would have to be again pushed back another year.
“In a way they’re a dying thing,” Mr Andrews said. “The country shows are pretty good but I think we’re too close to the city. There’s too much entertainment these days.”
The Bulli Show had to be postponed in 2017 for similar reasons, but also due to problems with power to the ground and pavilions.
“You try and keep these things going for the community as once they’re gone they’re gone,” Mr Andrews said. “But we’re not giving up.”
At this stage a date is to be confirmed for the 2019 event, though it is hoped to be running again at full capacity.
Mr Andrews said the show society is in need of new members, even people happy to just help out on the day.
