There was a giant weaving or textile apparatus being constructed at Wollongong’s MacCabe Park on Friday for a community art project.

The public will be able to use the giant loom on Saturday to create an artwork for the city.
It’s part of Viva La Gong, the annual free cultural festival put on by Wollongong City Council.
The program boasts market stalls, multicultural food, a film festival live music and entertainment – from Bec Sandridge to giant dinosaurs and childrens’ circus acts – from 12pm until 9pm.
A musical parade will wind through the streets from the Wollongong Conservatorium to MacCabe Park at 6pm.
Erth Dinosaur Zoo and their giant prehistoric puppets parading around the Main Stage at 12:35pm and 3:30pm.
There’ll also be art and design workshops including Mandala drawing, craft, zine making, poetry, Persian calligraphy, origami, lantern making and ceramics. While Wollongong Writers Festival will have their children’s program at the festival also.
