But you won’t be able to catch a bus to and from the airport.
Fly Corporate services to Brisbane and Melbourne start on Monday, replacing the defunct JetGo, which went into receivership in May this year.
The first flight – bound for Melbourne – will take off at 6.15am on Monday.
The bus route that between North Wollongong and the airport for JetGo flights won’t be returning, according to Transport for NSW.
“There are currently no plans to reintroduce the route 59 bus route to Illawarra Regional Airport,” a Transport for NSW spokesman said.
“Transport for NSW will continue to monitor Opal data and feedback from stakeholders, including customers, when planning future service improvements in the region.”
Transport for NSW trialled the Route 59 bus from October to June, stopping at the Novotel, Wollongong station, Warrawong Plaza and Stockland Shellharbour and other locations.
The Premier Illawarra bus actually finished two weeks after the JetGo flights it was created to serve.
There simply wasn't enough customers wanting to catch the bus to the airport then.
This is why Transport for NSW is cool on bringing the service back for Fly Corporate customers.
While the trial was running, there were around 3450 Opal trips on the route.
However, less than five per cent of those trips were arriving or departing from the airport.
That equates to less than 172 commuters in total going to or from the airport – or just 21 a month.
