You could certainly apply that term to the opening month of every new NBL season where imports are inevitably cut loose.

Now former 36ers import Adris De Leon was the latest when he was told he was cut on Friday – the day BEFORE his side’s clash with Sydney.

His 11 points, six assists and five boards was a handy display en route to the exit door, with Kings marquee men Andrew Bogut Jerome Randle taking to Twitter to comment on the bizarre turn.

Bogut said he’d never seen anything like it, even amid the ruthless cut and thrust of the NBA, while Randle tweeted: “competitive I am, never good 2 c a player get cut..need 2 b a rule u have 2 stick it out unless injury. sure he has a family 2 take care of” 

There’s certainly merit in that and the suggestion clubs shouldn’t have such an easy out for their own recruitment decisions. 

The Wildcats took it to even more farcical proportions two seasons ago, hiring, firing, re-hiring and then re-firing Jaron Johnson. 

It of course brought Bryce Cotton to the league to spearhead their charge to the grand final series and a 3-0 sweep of the Hawks.

No doubt Hawks fans wish Randle’s suggested policy was in place back then.
