The rugby, hockey, cycling and AWD programs have commenced training, with the remainder to follow in the coming weeks.
IAS Athlete Coach and Program Manager Dane Robinson said the first sessions were filled with excitement as the athletes prepared for the year ahead.
“It’s an exciting time for new recruits as they find their feet and begin to settle into the busy life of an IAS athlete,” Robinson said.
The Academy has also welcomed former Dapto Canary Mitch Nielsen as a strength and conditioning coach.
“He’ll initially work with each of our 10 squads, and then over time begin managing more individualised training programs for our athletes, providing expertise that should enable our athletes to deliver strong results across 2019.”
