It doesn’t matter where a team is at any given time, it’s always very important.
You can never get too high or too low.
Right now we are riding on cloud nine and so we should be after our start to the season.
After four rounds we are top of the A-League and playing some really good football.
It’s vital that we stay humble.
That’s why it is fantastic we have an experienced group of players.
We know how quickly things can change in football and are determined not to become complacent.
Last weekend our win against Adelaide United was one of our most impressive yet, there is no doubt about it.
We are delighted about our performance too.
We did well to keep Adelaide’s form man Craig Goodwin pretty quiet on the evening and stayed in control of the game.
The most pleasing for us was keeping the clean-sheet.
We’ve defended pretty well over the first couple of rounds but haven’t been able to achieve that just yet.
We happily did that against United. It’s about putting it all together and our defence is a big part of that.
With the international break coming up this weekend, we will enjoy the break and take the time to reset and go again.
I hope to be back in the selection frame again for our next clash against Central Coast Mariners but I am also under no illusions.
I know I am going to have to work hard to get myself into the squad again and look forward to the challenge.
- LEARN TO FLY
The Newcastle Jets were back to being the team we have come to expect last week.
They’ve had a tough start to the campaign, but they really bounced back against Sydney FC on their home turf.
If they can keep that going the slow start will mean nothing.
In fairness they probably could have got more than just a point from last season’s premiers.
There were a lot of positive signs. The same couldn’t have been said about the Western Sydney Wanderers.
Two goals up, the game was at their mercy and they threw it away in Mudgee.
They will undoubtedly will be looking to atone for that after a weekend off.
