Osiander’s YouTube channel has 80,000 subscribers who tune into his ‘Move of the Week’ blog that demonstrates various BJJ techniques and has immortalised phrases like “shut up and train’ and “you f--- up a long time ago.”
A student of Ralph Gracie, Osiander visited Illawarra BJJ pioneer Craig Sinclair’s Groundworks MMA gym to conduct a seminar and pass on the knowledge that’s made him a world renowned practitioner. Sinclair said getting instructors like Osiander to Australia is important for a rapidly improving local scene.
“That’s why we were keen to get him here, he’s a genuine pioneer,” Sinclair said.

“He’s got a bit of a cult following if you’ve watched his YouTube stuff. He doesn’t hold back and he loves the art. Australia for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is behind [globally] a fair bit but it’s definitely starting to catch up.
“He’s been doing it for over 30 years, he’s a fourth degree black belt. It’s important to get these guys here because of that knowledge. We’ve already talked about him coming back and we’ll definitely be booking him in again.”
