Hull had finished 93rd in the same event last year, but made the most of her final opportunity in the college system, before launching into the indoor and outdoor track campaign.
Competing for Oregon, the race was run in Wisconsin after a snowstorm delivered bitterly cold conditions.
“It was super cool and I’ve never seen conditions like this with snow on the ground, let alone run in it,” said Jessica Hull.
“I didn’t pay any attention to the snow I just put my head down and worked hard to score as well as I could for the team.”
Hull was among 17 runners within three seconds of each other after four kilometres, before sticking with eventual winner Dani Jones and runner-up Weini Kelati over the final stages.
“I just stay in the process and didn’t listen to any noise,” she said.
