The Furphy Bar at WIN Stadium’s Western Grandstand will be opening its doors from 2pm on December 8 to activate that part of town along with Illawarra Brewery and Bullpen Sports Diner in Corrimal Street.
As he prepares to launch Santa Fest that will include a pub crawl next year Mr Webster said it was exciting to have new venues coming on board.
“There are new bars opening up all the time in and around Wollongong and its nice when some of them want to be involved and see the value of both adding to the event and giving back to the community at the same time,” he said.
“We have a lot of people who stay at the Sage. It will be nice for people staying there to come and start here. And with Furphy coming on board this year we have adjusted our shuttle bus route which will be stopping right across the road. With the wrist band people can hop on the bus for free and come down to the Furphy Bar”.
The shuttle bus service will also include Towradgi Beach Hotel for the first time.
WIN Sports and Entertainment Centre venue manager Marc Swan said it made sense for the Furphy Bar to participate in such a great community event.
“The Furphy Bar at WIN Stadium was opening for events at both our venues and we thought that this was such a special event it was a great opportunity to take part in this,” Mr Swan said.
“We are excited to open up from 2 o’clock and welcome everyone down here. There is plenty of Furphy on tap and we will have some entertainment as well. We have Jimmy Vann playing for everyone. We will also be doing some offers for those with the green wristies. We will be doing $6 schooners and $6 wings. We want to activate this part of town and give everyone an opportunity to pop in on their way to some of the other venues”.
Mr Swan said with a three day Santa festival starting next year WIN Sports and Entertainment Centre will happily get involved again to help raise money for the Salvo’s and other charities who help children.

“You can collect them from tickets.com as of today at the Innovation Campus and from next week you will be able to collect them from the North Gong Hotel between 11am and 6pm,” Mr Webster said.
“We have had a really good response this year”.
“We are actually ahead with ticket sales on this time last year which is fantastic news. Santa Claus Pub Crawl isn’t coming to an end. It is just being re-birthed with a new name”.
