If you’re Cash Savage, you hire some actors to act while you stand behind them and sing.
That’s the approach Savage took for Pack Animals, one of the tracks from her new album Good Citizens.
Many of the tunes are about the experiences of Savage – who married her girlfriend in 2015 and became a parent earlier this year.
A highlight is the stinging track Better Than That, written about the gay marriage plebiscite.
It questions why it was necessary (“secretly I’d hoped you were better than that”) and is still relevant a year later with religious groups keen to find legislated ways around it.
Cash Savage and the Last Drinks perform at the UOW Unibar on Saturday.
