Kaisha Young, 15, is taking part in the World's Greatest Shave this month and will be shaving her head at an end of year dance school concert where she teaches.
Kaisha works with many young children as a student teacher at The Project by Ebony Austin and was motivated to do the shave on December 16 by the loss of a close friend.
“I’ve always really wanted to do it,” she said.
“My best friend was diagnosed with cancer six years ago and before he passed this idea popped into my head. He was one year older than me and I am doing this in his memory now”.
Dance school principal Ebony Austin said more than 200 people will be at the end of year concert in Woonona to cheer Kaisha on during the shave.
Ms Austin said she was excited when she saw what she was planning to do in a Facebook post.
“It thought it was amazing that she is doing this. It made me cry,” she said.
“It is a first for our dance school which supports many other charities and organisations.”
Kaisha has been a student teacher for two years and works with young children on jazz, ballet and hip hop two days a week.
