Mr Snell’s arrival reunites Mr Snell with Foye Legal chief executive and chief lawyer Diana Foye.
The two lawyers were part of legal partnership at one of Sydney’s largest national litigation law firms where they previously worked together for 13 years.
Ms Foye said she was passionate about ensuring the Illawarra is represented by the most skilful lawyers, so when the time came to introduce a new partner to the firm, Mr Snell was her first and only choice.
She he will help cement Foye Legal’s reputation as a leader in the personal injury and compensation space.
“This is about big city lawyers in a local setting,” Ms Foye said.
“Peter is an exceptional lawyer, a tremendous person and will be a formidable advocate for our clients. He is not only a significant acquisition for Foye Legal but also for the Illawarra.”
Mr Snell brings to the Illawarra more than 20 years’ experience as a solicitor.
He has worked in State and Federal Workers' Compensation, the highly specialised Dust Diseases Tribunal, migration law and complex compensation litigation.
Like Ms Foye, much of his work has been representing government organisations, insurers and Australia’s largest corporates.
Mr Snell said he had observed the success and growth of Foye Legal since its inception in 2015.
“Diana and her team have had outstanding success and I want to contribute to that continued success by adding my skills,” he said.
“I would not have contemplated working for any other firm in the Illawarra.”
Mr Snell is no stranger to the Illawarra.
He has previously acted from Sydney for local companiessuch as Bluescope Steel, BHP Billiton, and Lysaghts.
He said he is looking forward to becoming a ‘local’, not just at a professional level but at a community level.
“Although Wollongong is a growing city, it still retains a sense of community which I enjoy,” he said.
