On Friday, Mandy Booker from the Wollongong Homeless Hub visited a VIEW Club meeting to pick up the fruits of their labour.
Club member Pauline Kearton said the club has 73 members and was very active in the Dapto community.
It assisted a range of charities including The Smith Family, Triple Care Farm and women’s refuges.
“We have given toiletries to the Homeless Hub before,” she said.
“I knew this was going to be big because our members were keen to help others this Christmas. And we would like to encourage others in the community to give food as well.”
Ms Booker said the hub aimed to put together 200 Christmas hampers this season.
“Without donations like this from the VIEW Club we just could not do it,” she said.
Ms Booker said there was still time for others in the community to donate.
“We are doing hamper packing as of the 18th of December,” she said.
“People can drop donations off directly to us in Young Street or they can go onto Facebook and see our weekly 12 Weeks of Christmas containing a list of items we aim to collect to go into those hampers.”
The hub continues to make food packages available throughout January, when there is limited support available for the homeless.
