Swarms of people in festive attire will hit licenced venues around Wollongong CBD including the North Gong Hotel, Pepe’s and Illawarra Brewery (to name a few) from around midday.
Wollongong Police District officers will be out among the fun, supported by specialist police during a high-visibility operation.
Inspector Don Faulds said police will not tolerate illegal or anti-social behaviour.
“Police are warning festival goers to take care with their own personal safety at the event and ensure that family and friends who attend with them, remain safe,” Ins Faulds said.
“Police will target alcohol-fuelled violence and anti-social behaviour … there will also be a heavy police presence on public transport.”
