The Sydney University Bushwalkers have released a nude calendar with and all proceeds from the sale will be donated to the Give a Dam foundation.
Give a Dam is fighting the state government’s plan to raise the dam wall and flood more of the Burragorang Valley – threatening endangered wildlife and culturally significant Indigenous sites.
Bushwalker Chantal Bronkhorst said the group, which is comprised of current and former Sydney University students, felt very strongly about the fate of the valley and greater Blue Mountains area.
“The raising of Warragamba Dam is an issue that really resonates with the Sydney University Bushwalkers,” she said.
“The Southern Blue Mountains are the spiritual home of our club.
“This is the area where they very first walk occurred after SUBW was formed in 1946.
“Even today, one of our main events is a long-weekend walk to the pristine Kowmung River, a declared wild river that will be directly impacted by the raising of Warragamba Dam.”
Ms Bronkhorst said the walkers were “pretty relaxed when it comes to nudity” and had now produced several calendars.
“This is the third nude calendar the club has produced in recent years,” she said.
“Mostly they’re an excuse to have a bit of fun, but they have also helped us raise money for some important environmental causes.”
