Braving torrential rain at the championships in tropical Cairns, Ezeoke blitzed her rivals to take out the final of the under 14 girls 400 metres.
Not only did she win gold, however, Ezeoke also set a new Australian record in the process. Incredibly, at just 12 years old, Ezeoke is competing against girls a year older than her.
Ezeoke was also a member of the gold medal-winning 4x100m NSW under 14 relay team.
Illawarra Grammar School’s James Healey was also in Cairns for the championships, showing off his talent in the middle distance events.
The teenager took home the silver medal in the under 16 boys 800m event and finished fourth in the 1500m.
Albion Park’s Isaac Shaw finished ninth in the under 16 boys 2000m steeplechase.
