A heavy light post fell across a path and the entrance to a busy car park on Berry Street at about 8.20am.
The streetlight column narrowly missed a parked car, and a motorist who had just driven into the car park.
A spokesperson for Endeavour Energy said safety was the company’s top priority and the failure of any part of its network was a very serious issue.
“We regularly inspect and maintain our network to keep customers safe,” the spokesperson said.
“While thankfully no one was injured, we have commenced an immediate investigation into the failure of the streetlight column in Nowra CBD this morning.
“We learn from incidents like this to minimise the risk of them reoccurring in the future.”
