It was announced on Monday organisers Tamara Campbell and Dave Evans would receive $20,000 from the Destination NSW Regional Flagship Events Fund to help attract more people to the festival across April 27 and 28.
Evans said they noticed a significant increase in attendees at the 2018 event as a direct result of increased marketing, advertising, a rebrand and new website.
“Because we did some of the grassroots stuff last year it means this year we’re in a much better position to just use that money on purely marketing and advertising,” he told the Mercury.
KISS Arts is a free comedy, circus and international street theatre festival and also a platform for local artists and arts based groups to showcase performance, art and workshop activities.
It was founded in 2011 and modeled around similar festivals held across Europe during their summer months. It has since grown in attendance and international recognition – with more than 200 artist applications submitted for this year’s event.
For 2019, organisers will market KISS to Western Sydney, the greater Illawarra and Canberra with the aim to attract at least 10,000 people to the South Coast for the weekend.
