The four-week course also offers the chance to volunteer with the council's Festival of Small Halls and the final session will include a networking event with event producers.
The local council has worked with Youth Services to develop a course to help create the next generation of local event producers.
“The objective is to build young people’s skills and capacity in events management so they are more able to run their own events and gain future employment opportunities,” a council spokeswoman said.
The Run Your Own Party course will be facilitated by Sam Eacott who works with public relations and artist management agency Positive Feedback.
Participants will learn how to scale up a backyard gig to a larger event, as well as budgeting, booking acts and finding an audience.
It will run January 12, 19 and 23, plus February 2 at Blackbutt Youth Centre.
Places are limited and those interested will need to register through www.eventbrite.com.au to obtain an application form.
