Owner Frank said, “I have to say since our sea-change move to Shellharbour from inner city Sydney three years ago I’ve always loved Shellharbour Village and its laid back feel and vibe.”
“Our menu reflects our passion for food and being brave and bold with our ingredients letting their quality and freshness do the talking,” he said.
“My favourite is the zucchini stuffed flowers with truffle honey and of course the Oh Canada Burger.
“Having legend chefs Lee and Jared in my kitchen makes my life easy as they are true masters of their craft and are always pushing themselves. The lads are already planning our winter menu so that says it all.
“The Sandbox Kitchen Bar is always open early for coffee and breakfast trade. As most people know me from my other venue The Happy Barista on Keira Street, they know wherever I go coffee isn't too far behind.
“We are also open for dinner three nights a week with one more night to be added soon.
“We pride ourselves in being a kitchen – not a cafe or a restaurant – so our breakfast, lunch and dinner menu varies from lovely fresh breakfast dishes to bold and tasty dinner plates plus tapas to please any palate.”
For breakfast there are dishes like poached mango and pineapple pancakes with their house hazelnut chocolate sauce.
Or select the half-devilled avocado – Kangaroo Valley egg cooked in an avocado wrapped in delicious bacon served with house pesto and celeriac cream and burnt rye toast.
Try the gourmet burgers - they only use 150 gram wagyu beef patties chargrilled, not fried, for that amazing charred taste.
For lunch or dinner, there are even more lip-smacking delights.
There are also chargrilled skewers, sticky barbecue pork ribs, buffalo wings, charred chicken breast, stuffed zucchini flower and how about the truffle loaded fries while the tapas list goes on and on.
The Sandbox Kitchen Bar is open Tuesday and Wednesday from 7am-3pm, Thursday to Saturday from 7am-3pm and then 5.30pm- 9.30pm plus Sundays 7am-4.30pm.
