The branch also continues to support the local government funded not-for-profit Albion Park Youth & Community Care Centre that provides family and youth support to those in need with programs that provide assistance to the community and those less fortunate. It is mostly run by volunteers, grants and the local community.
Horizon Albion Park branch manager Jo Thompson said there was an overwhelming response from a generous Albion Park community again this year.
“I met with the centre at the beginning of the year and it was then that I learned of numerous local families in hardship, with many children going to school without food,” she said.
“It’s heart-breaking. We’re passionate about helping our local community in any way we can, so we’ve been collecting non-perishable food items all year for the centre.”
Staff at Horizon Albion Park have put hampers together for the Albion Park Youth & Community Care Centre as well as donating gift vouchers.
The annual Christmas coincided with the 20th anniversary celebration of customer-owned banking with Horizon in Albion Park.
Donations of toiletries or non-perishable food items can still be dropped off to Horizon Credit Union, Albion Park Shopping Village, Terry St, Albion Park.
