Mr Henson did not apply for bail while bail was officially refused by Registrar Kirby Moore. The matter adjourned until February 28 next year.
Police claim the accused entered the Centre Town Pharmacy on Bong Bong Road after the premises closed at 10:25pm on Sunday.
The man was alleged to have been wearing a motorcycle helmet and brandished his weapon at two staff, demanding cash and drugs.
The alleged offender is then claimed to have threatened them with the gun and struck a male worker in the face with the butt of the weapon. The victim who was injured suffered a laceration to his mouth.
An ambulance was later called and the staff member treated on the scene by paramedics.
Police say staff handed over a sum of money and drugs to the man, before he fled the scene towards the Princes Highway.
Here he was seen by officers from Lake Illawarra who commenced to chase the man on foot.
The alleged offender dropped the helmet and weapon on the Princes Highway before running into Baan Baan Street, where he was arrested by the detectives.
The 27-year-old was taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station and charged.
The independent pharmacy was also targeted by armed robbers in 2012.
