Foord scored a stunning solo goal in the second half to help put the Sky Blues two goals in front of their arch rivals before adding a second from the penalty spot with 10 minutes remaining.
The brace took Foord’s tally to seven goals from nine matches this season and lifted the Sky Blues back inside the competition’s top four.
“We’re in a position where we had to win so to play under pressure and get the win I think is a positive,” Sydney FC coach Ante Juric said.
“Caitlin played well apart from the two goals so I’m glad she got on the scoresheet.”
Foord’s top form comes at the right time, with the Women’s FIFA World Cup looming later this year.
The 24-year-old looks all but assured of competing at her third Cup.
