Lake Illawarra police arrested and charged 28-year-old Joel Bill on Friday.
Police will allege Bill was one of three men who forced their way into a home on Jarrah Way at Albion Park Rail about 5pm on December 26.
The intruders allegedly threatened the people inside the home before assaulting a 28-year-old man.
Police will allege a weapon was used during the ordeal.
Lake Illawarra police were called and started an investigation.
Following inquiries, police attended a home at Barrack Heights around midday on Friday where they tried to speak to Bill.
He allegedly ran from officers but was arrested nearby after a short foot pursuit.
Bill was taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station where he was charged with aggravated enter dwelling with intent to commit serious indictable offence.
In court, Bill appeared via audiovisual link and, through his Legal Aid lawyer, did not apply for bail. Bail was formally refused.
The matter will return to court on January 22. On the same day, the court will deal with Bill’s other charges for different offences. The charges include being in possession of drugs, affray and destroying property.
Police are continuing to investigate the home invasion.
