The American was instrumental against the Sydney Kings at Qudos Bank Arena, chipping in with 13 points in Illawarra’s 96-84 win.
Throughout this season few players have had their performance scrutinised more than Jackson.
It’s been a talking point over the course of Illawarra’s up and down campaign, but Hawks coach Rob Beveridge has continued to voice his support for the former NBL MVP.
“People put a lot more focus on him [as a former MVP] and I think it was hard for him to adapt to get back in the league, which is better than what it was when he went away. All credit to him. We have backed him since day one,” Beveridge said on the weekend. “The amount of criticism that he has copped is almost disgraceful, particularly on social media.
“The amount of heckling and yelling.
“I think it is because their expectation is so high where our expectations are that we are there for him.
“We want him to express himself.”
The Hawks will need Jackson to continue to fire as they make their push towards a finals berth.
