The second meeting on 2019 was cancelled early on Saturday morning after almost 100mm fell on the track last week.
The track had been rated a heavy 10 on Friday afternoon before 12mm of overnight rain forced Racing NSW stewards to stop the meeting from going ahead.
It was the fourth time since the beginning of September last year that a Kembla meeting has been consigned to the scrap heap.
While wet weather has been a major factor in the postponements, it is understood a patch on the home straight around the 50m mark has been a concern.
"We are looking into it and trying to rectify any problems if we can, which maybe could require additional drainage work," Craig said.
"The last thing we want to do is lose a race meeting.
"We obviously understand how it impacts all of our participants, especially all our locals on course."
Kembla trials were also forced to be postponed on Wednesday morning after thunderstorms lashed the Illawarra throughout last week. Saturday's meeting followed suit despite the arrival of warmer temperatures around the region over the weekend.
"It still was a no-go because the track wouldn't have recovered sufficiently by the opening race," Craig said.
“We ended up receiving about 30mm more of rain than the metropolitan tracks over the course of the week.”
Kembla Grange should have no such issues hosting the club's final meeting of the month when racing returns to the track this Saturday.
The Illawarra Turf Club will host just four more meetings before holding their marquee Classic Day on Friday, March 15.
The Classic Day meeting will be followed by the club’s heat of the Provincial Championships to be held on Saturday, March 23.
The Provincial Championships final will be held at Royal Randwick on April 23.
Meanwhile, Gwenda Markwell continues to lead both the overall and local trainers premierships at Kembla Grange.
The defending champion’s powerhouse stable sits on 73 points in the overall title race, with Peter and Paul Snowden (44 points) and Robert and Luke Price (37 points) in the running.
Markwell's tally of 16 winners has her on top in the Kembla standings, with the Prices (eight winners) next best.
Chad Lever (41 points) holds the advantage in the jockeys' premiership. Mitchell Bell and Koby Jennings (both 33 points) remain his biggest challengers.
The apprentice title race is an open affair as Robbie Dolan leads the way on 13 points.
With Dolan now riding most metropolitan meetings, the door will be open for challengers in the second half of the season.
Rebekah Prest, Billy Owen and former Kembla champion Brock Ryan are all on eight points.
