The woman told officers she thought Kenneth Politzer was going to kill her during the ordeal, saying she repeatedly begged him to stop but he ignored her.

However, Politzer denies he detained the woman and sought bail in Wollongong Local Court on Tuesday, with his lawyer arguing the case against his client was weak.

Magistrate Susan McGowan disagreed and refused to release Politzer from custody.

Court documents said Politzer and the woman had recently split after nine months of dating, however she agreed to feed his pets on Sunday.

The woman said she arrived to discover Politzer was home, which she had not been expecting, and he immediately deadlocked the door when she came inside.

She claims he directed her to the bedroom before pulling a small gun from his pocket, pointed it at her and said “this time there’s no blanks, put you hands up”.

She claimed Politzer then cable tied her to metal rings already fixed to the doorway of his bedroom. When she broke out of the plastic ties, it is alleged Politzer replaced them with metal chains.

The woman said Politzer eventually allowed one of her arms free and she was able to call her mother, who phoned the police.

Upon realising the police had been called, Politzer allegedly cut the woman free and told her to leave.

He was arrested without incident the following day and charged with kidnapping and drug and weapon offences after police found cannabis and knuckle dusters at the house.

The case will return to court in April.
