“I am incredibly disappointed that the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) has sent students their HSC with the wrong date,” Mr Stokes said.
“...I am furious that the independent authority charged with running the HSC failed to give NSW students the respect their hard work and dedication deserves by getting something as simple as the date right on their certificate.
“I’ve made it clear to NESA that this needs to be corrected immediately and I understand reprinting is already underway.”
A number of people took to social media to express their disappointment at the “wrong-date fiasco”.
But a tweet from Labor’s Education spokesman Jihad Dib critical of the government, missed the mark, as it also had a mistake in it.
NESA “apologised unreservedly to every student who has mistakenly received their 2018 Higher School Certificate in the mail displaying an incorrect date [2017] of issue”.
NESA said it was working hard to rectify the mistake, which was caused by human error, as quickly as possible.
“We are currently reprinting replacement certificates which will be sent out to all students as early as possible next week,” NESA said.

“The Higher School Certificate is a globally recognised qualification and all students in the class of 2018 will receive an accurate certificate to celebrate their achievement.
“This error has not impacted the validity of the HSC, and should students need an urgent copy of their certificate they can download it at https://studentsonline.nesa.nsw.edu.au/.
“We apologise for any distress or disappointment that this unfortunate error has caused to students and their families.” Students can contact NESA on 9367 8001 or email records@nesa.nsw.edu.au if they require further information.
