Just before 10am on Sunday, August 26, a 62-year-old woman and her son were sitting in a car in the public carpark of a temple at Berkeley.
It is alleged another woman approached the open passenger door and grabbed hold of her bag.
As the woman attempted to hold onto her bag, she was allegedly dragged to a nearby car, where a man was waiting in the driver’s seat.
The car drove off, pulling the woman for a short distance before she fell and hit her head.
Officers from Lake Illawarra Police District attended.
The woman was taken to Wollongong Hospital, before being transferred to Royal North Shore Hospital with serious head injuries.
She has since been released. However, as a result of the incident she is suffering permanent physical injuries.
Following this, a 34-year-old woman was arrested outside Wollongong Local Court on Wednesday.
She was taken to Wollongong Police Station and charged with robbery in company causing wounding/grievous bodily harm.
She was bail refused and appeared at Wollongong Local Court later on Wednesday, when she was given conditional bail to reappear on April 3.
Also, a 35-year-old Wollongong man was issued with a Future Court Attendance Notice for the same offence, to appear at Wollongong Local Court on April 5.
