The Cairns big-man officially announced he will retire from the game at the end of the season in the wake of the Taipans’ 100-91 defeat to Adelaide 36ers on Saturday night. Loughton has been with the Taipans since 2010 after joining from the Perth Wildcats. He has played more than 300 games in the competition.
“I feel mentally and physically really good about moving forward and on to life after basketball,” Loughton said.
“It is a great time for me to hang up the boots. I am really proud about how I have gone about my business.
“I am really proud of the players I have played with and battled alongside.
“My family has always been there supporting me and this team has been really supportive of the decision I just made.”
