The 61-year-old Englishman will bring his culinary expertise to the Friday Forage to film scenes for his upcoming series Ainsley’s Market Menu – the episode is expected to air on SBS later this year.
Markets have been running in the mall for more than a decade with fresh local produce, international food and artisan goods a fixture at Friday lunch-time.
A spokesperson for the new show said Harriott will travel to eight diverse Australian markets with simple cooking equipment. Arriving at dawn with little more than some cooking equipment, Ainsley sets about creating his unique market menu and opening for business by the time the locals are ready for lunch.
Kirrily Sinclair who runs the market said Harriott would be keen to get to know some of the regular vendors between 9am and 2pm, while he’ll be doing a cooking demonstration around 11:30am.
“He will be meeting with several of our stallholders and featuring their amazing produce in an on-site cooking session,” Ms Sinclair said.
Television viewers would know Harriott from such shows as the Len and Ainsley's Big Food Adventure, Great British Food Revival and the BBC version of Ready Steady Cook.
