Racing around Flagstaff Hill on Sunday, the event saw some of the state’s top cyclists compete in both opens and junior divisions and it was Illawarra riders who swept the under 17 races.
Emerging talent Ryan Britten out-sprinted his rivals to claim the under 17 men’s event, showing a good turn of speed to win the race.
The win came after Britten had spent the previous day in Goulburn at the Goulburn Track Power.
Australian champion Sarah Cliff proved her class to take out the under 17 women’s race. Fellow Illawarra Cycle Club member Amelia Trkulja was third, with Emily Strumfin in fourth.
The racing continues this weekend, with the Illawarra’s youngest cyclists off to Dubbo for the Under Nine to Under 13 NSW Junior Championships at the Victoria Park velodrome.
