Scope Home Access has been providing government subsidised home modification and related services across the Illawarra region for over 30 years.
CEO Anne Reeve says their goal is to provide clients with the choice to stay in their home and local community where family, friends and local activities are as much a part of a client’s wellness program as medication and therapy.

Home modifications are minor, complex or major structural changes to a home and/or yard that provide or enhance access, safety and independence.
Home modifications can be as simple as internal grab rails or external handrails, or as complex as major ramps, lifts, accessible kitchens and open-plan bathrooms.
Scope Home Access has a large team of in-house builders and occupational therapists - many of their qualified staff have been with them for over 10 years and are highly experienced.
Occupational therapists assess and design modifications for the individual needs of a client or carer and builders install to the OT’s prescribed recommendations.
More recently service has expanded to include the prescription and supply of assistive technology such as equipment to support activities of daily living within the home which might include, for example, items to support bathing, dressing and feeding. All of the services provided are also available through a Social Enterprise arm of the organisation where members of the general community, service providers and other business organisations can utilise the company’s expertise at reasonable market rates.
“One of our largest growth areas for assessment and home modification services are retirees who wish to stay in their own homes,” Anne said.
“These are clients, not yet in need of services who are taking proactive action to ensure their homes will meet their future access and safety needs. Simple home or yard modifications can be tremendously helpful in falls prevention!”
Scope Home Access’s head office in Dapto also contains structural displays and demonstration rooms available for clients and their families to view and discuss the options available to modify and stay in their own homes.
The team are happy to talk you through the process for yourself or a loved one so you understand the services available and how they can help give someone who loves their home a way to stay.
