Offering panoramic views and high-level finishes, Aura apartments is located at 22-26 Flinders Street.
In 2017, the long-awaited transformation of Wollongong’s northern outskirts began, as construction started on new apartments along Flinders Street.
Demolition of three single-storey buildings – the former Skipp Surf premises, a beautician and Kings Chinese restaurant – began in May 2017, to make way for a nine-storey mixed-use complex.
The building contains 50 apartments, and two commercial premises fill out the ground floor.
It features six one-bedroom apartments, 37 two-bedroom apartments and seven three-bedroom apartments, and three levels of parking.
The apartments were built by developers Sam Hanna & Co.
The selling agents are Colliers Wollongong.
Earlier this week, managing director Simon Kersten said all the physical work had been completed.
“We’re expecting the final occupancy certificate by the end of this week,” he told the Mercury. “The quality of the construction is first-class.”
He said residents could begin moving in as soon as the occupation certificate was issued.
Mr Kersten said the developers were going to retain some of the apartments.
“So we’ve leased out a couple of floors, and sold some of the apartments.
“There are 15 apartments left for sale.”
Of the remaining apartments for sale, one-bedrooms start from $490,000; two-bedrooms from $630,000 and three-bedrooms from $875,000.
Mr Kersten said 21 of the apartments were being leased, and attributed their popularity among prospective renters to the close proximity to the likes of transport and the beach.
“We’ve been swamped with rental inquiries – it’s been very popular with the rental market,” he said.
“We’ve leased 12 apartments in less than a week. The tenants are a real mix, not just university students.”
Features of the Aura apartments include high-level finishes, designer kitchens and quality appliances, floor-to-ceiling windows, rooftop and podium level community garden and ducted air-conditioning.
The completion of the project was celebrated via a VIP event on the rooftop of the Aura apartments on Thursday evening.
