He was honoured at a surprise celebration on Friday, attended by Rotarians and Police Citizens Youth Clubs NSW CEO Dominic Teakle.
Mr Jones said among the highlights of the role was “the times where we’ve been able to have a real positive effect in the lives of young people”.
“(Times) where they’ve come in and been off the rails, and through the work of the club, police, volunteers and staff there, their lives get back on track,” he said.
The Rotarian has moved on to a role with the United Services Union as a union organiser.
Dot Hennessy, president of the Rotary Club of Wollongong and a PCYC NSW board member congratulated Mr Jones on his tenure.
She praised his passion for the role, and said he had left the club in a strong position.
Matt Bourne is PCYC Wollongong’s new manager.
