If given the green light, Funlab would open B. Lucky & Sons in the vacant space between David Jones and their mini-golf venue.
Brisbane and Melbourne are currently the only two locations for the arcade franchise, which uses a facade like an old world pawn shop complete with staff in newsboy caps and suspenders.
The jackpot prizes on offer from playing the arcade games range from a Google Home to vintage Chanel, according to their website.
According to the document submitted on behalf of GPT ( owners of Wollongong Central), the new venture would house a range of arcade/computer games including racing simulators, basketball hoops, and dance machines in addition to food and beverages.
The venue would operate under the same liquor licence that applies to Holey Moley.
“It will be managed as one operation in tandem … with common staffing, one manager and shared facilities such as toilets, kitchen,” the document stated.
The venue would be open seven days a week from 10am until midnight, and until 1am on Friday and Saturday nights.
B.Lucky is the newest venture for Funlab who also own Strike bowling bars, Sky Zone trampoline parks and Archie Brothers Cirque Electriq.
Holey Moley opened in Wollongong last July. At the time brand manager Maleik Edwards told the Mercury if all went well there was “a chance for more concepts in Wollongong”.
The DA is on exhibition until February 25. At this stage it’s unknown when the venue would open if given approval.
