Luke from Leisure Coast Bait and Tackle at Corrimal said it was yet another frustrating weekend last week for those chasing billfish with heaps of boats out on all the local hot spots for very little return.

Reports suggested only a couple of boats actually had fish boat-side.
Early reports this week have seen a marked improvement in the hook-up stats so fingers crossed there are more swimming down with the current that is racing south at present.
Tomorrow is looking the goods for a run so many crews have their fingers crossed.
Snapper fishos are wondering where all the reddies have gone with many boats over the weekend pulling doughnuts on the fish.
There were plenty of the smaller pan sized fish but the size we had become accustomed to over the latter months of last year are missing in action or just not biting.
A few boats went out to the 100/120 metre depth line - where they have had success before, but they too reported all very quiet – too quiet for the effort put in.
It’s not all doom and gloom with plenty of anglers getting stuck into some nice legal sized kingfish over the weekend both down at Port Kembla and around Bellambi.
Darren Martin hit them again but this time took his young bloke Kai who outdid Dad with a nearly 7 kilo fish.
It was weighed at the tackle shop and bumped his surprised dad off top stop on the instore comp board.
They weren’t the only ones who enjoyed the kingies with plenty of customers reporting a good session on them last Saturday.
Perfect conditions for down rigging, and squid was the bait of choice for the better fish as they didn’t want to play ball with the slimeys.
Beaches and rocks continued to have the most consistent bite with plenty of bonito and kings off the stones up and down the coast on all sorts of lures and plastics.
Hill 60, Bass Point and the breakwall off Port have all been holding good numbers of fish over the past week.
There were still plenty of drummer and bream about the washes as well.
