Experience wins teams titles.
It's hardly a secret in the sporting world, but there no doubt how crucial a part it often plays for victorious organisations.
You need people who can produce under pressure and adapt in difficult circumstances, all while still getting results week after week.
We are fortunate to have these sort of players in abundance at Perth Glory this season.
It's hard to single any one player out, but that experience across the board really shone through against Melbourne Victory in our top of the table showdown last weekend.
We were disciplined and controlled throughout the game in one of the most difficult away environments in the competition.
Apart from the last 10 minutes, we played fantastic football and deserved to leave AAMI Park with the points. The result obviously now puts us in a great position. To sit seven points clear at the top with nine games remaining is a spot every team would like to be in.
We are going to need that same experience to continue shining through as we strive to keep that buffer at the business end of the season.
We will definitely need it again when we play a re-energised Brisbane Roar outfit this weekend.
While they can't make finals, they've really got nothing to lose and showed that last weekend with a shock win over Sydney FC.
That's bound to give them a bucket load of confidence.
It will be also interesting to see what impact it has on Sydney FC, who are set to begin their Asian Champions League campaigns alongside Melbourne Victory soon.
- A NEW WESTERN FRONT
Things are starting to take shape at A-League's latest expansion club and the addition of Josh Risdon can only be seen as a positive for the newly named Western United.
Risdon is one of the best players in the country in his position so will undoubtedly give them valuable experience in their debut season.
They've done well to pick him up, but with lots of players off contract this off-season, you can guarantee he won't be the last to make the switch.
It's vital they get the squad right in their inaugural season because the league needs them to be successful and pushing for a finals berth from day one.
