(1) If I lift weight I’m going to get too big and muscle bound.
This is a common question I hear. This is totally incorrect, especially when it comes to females as they do not have the testosterone levels generally of men. In the case of males you need to be lifting a large amount of sessions per week and consuming huge amounts of protein to ensure you are creating larger muscles.
(2) I’m too old to start lifting.
You are never too old to start lifting weights. Weights can mean free weights, machine guided, pulleys or bodyweight exercises. You can easily reduce the amount of load and decrease the complexity of the exercise in effort to restore muscle fibre and increase bone mineral density.
