Former teacher Wendy Richardson - famous for published works such as Windy Gully and Three Illawarra Plays - was a driving force behind many Theatre South productions during the late 1980s and '90s.
Her 2006 monologue, Four Kembla Women, will come to life again on March 15 with the writer herself stepping into the roles of the four females who meld the tale together.
The work was originally created in 2005 for the launch of Heritage Week in the Illawarra, under the premise of "telling tales from a rocking chair about the olden days".
"It was really the harvesting of stories and then telling the story of our early fishing industry, the story of Wollongong in [WWII]," Mr Richardson said.
"I was probably in my 50s when I started interviewing peoplem it was always just talking and listening to stories that have been handed down and so on."
The Keiraville event is to help raise funds for a new hall at St Johns church which would be used for a range of community activities. It will also upgrade disabled access to the hall. Tickets $15 from www.trybooking.com
