The 2018 grand finalists kept their slim finals hopes alive with a resounding victory over Dapto last weekend, and Connor knows his men must be at the top of their game if they are to defeat the Tigers. 

The Lions are in impressive form of their own, having recorded a relatively comfortable victory over Wollongong a week ago. For Connor, the key will be to keep the momentum rolling in the final two-day match of the season. 

"It was a really good effort last weekend, everyone pitched in," Connor said. "We knew 240 was probably a par score on that ground, and we really stuck together and did a good job with the ball. It was a good win against what you probably consider one of the best teams in the competition. 

"But as the ladder shows, it's a fairly open competition and a strong win for Helensburgh against us puts them back in contention for a finals spot. We need to be back on our game, we can't afford to rest on our laurels, we have to back it up this week."

Such is the tight nature of this year's competition, Keira are in the precarious position of sitting equal second on the ladder, but still a genuine chance of missing the finals. 

The Lions are level on points with Wollongong, but behind on net run rate, and three points ahead of Corrimal.

The Cougars sit two points clear of defending premiers Balgownie, who are a further five points in front of Helensburgh. 

Chasing a top-two finish and hoping to avoid missing the finals altogether, Keira are looking to win their final two games of the year. 

"Even though we're equal second, with Wollongong ahead on net run rate, we only need to have two losses and other results go against us and we can find ourselves out of the four. It's very important we be on our game ready to play."

Helensburgh captain Mitch McCrae confirmed what Connor suspected, the Tigers will be doing everything possible to win their last two games and sneak into the finals. 

"We know at this stage if we don't win, we're finished," McCrae said. "We need to win the next couple of games.

"Our form's been pretty good, we've got our full side back, so hopefully the next couple of games we can get two wins and hope other results go our way and we can make the finals. 

"Keira's had a pretty good season so far, it's always good playing there. It's a nice wicket, which evens out the contest and we're certainly confident we can win."

Saturday's other matches will see Balgownie attempt to maintain the pressure on Corrimal when they take on University at Judy Masters Oval. Corrimal face a tricky contest with Wests.

Northern Districts will attempt to extend their lead at the top of the table when they face Dapto and Wollongong will hope to bounce back from last week's loss with a victory over Port Kembla.
