With the World Rugby Sevens Series arriving in town for the annual tournament, Gerringong's George Michael was selected to represent the Arizona Bobcats in the under 16s division of the Las Vegas Invitational, which was played alongside the elite competition.
Currently based in Tempe, Arizona, Michael has attracted the eye of talent scouts in both rugby union and American football, impressing scouts from the Arizona Cardinals in a recent tryout.
Michael experienced a roller coaster of emotions in Vegas, his side losing their opening match 21-14 before he played a role in three of his team's four tries in their victory over the Foothills Lions in their second fixture.
The third pool game did not go to plan for Michael, with the 15-year-old suffering a knee injury early in the match, which the Bobcats went on to lose.
