Lindsay Park Public School have opened their defence of the NSW Paul Kelly Cup with victory in the Northern Illawarra regional qualifier girls division.

The primary school girls overcame 10 other teams to claim the competition, defeating Shell Cove Public School 20-1 in the final.
The boys division was won by St Michael's Thirroul, who claimed a 24-12 victory over St Columbkille's Corrimal.
AFL Illawarra Development Coordinator Stuart Haack described the day as a resounding success.
"The feedback was the kids had an awesome time," Haack said. "It was a very successful day, with 13 boys and 11 girls teams.
"Lindsay Park Public won the girls event beating Shell Cove. they were state champions last year and were pretty keen to get to the next round to defend their title."
