Mckibben stated the international grassroots organisation's intention was to "share, inspire and motivate our country to get active before the federal election to ensure climate change is the issue nationally".
The short film Accelerate-Climate Action is based on this tour.
Wollongong Climate Action Network will screen the film produced by 350.org, at the Illawarra Brewery in Wollongong on Thursday, March 14 from 6.30pm.
WCAN member Gabi Martinez said new ideas and local action was needed on climate action.
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change says there are longer and more frequent heat waves and flooding events as well as extended periods of drought and more powerful storms.
"Things are getting worse and our state and federal governments are failing us. We are not working fast enough and time is running out," she said.
George Takacs, from the School of Physics at the University of Wollongong will speak following the film screening.
"We are keen to hear new ideas from locals ready to get involved in climate action," Martinez said.
